Title: A Systematic Approach to Active Care
CEs: 2 Hours

The language of reimbursement today is function. Establishing the medical necessity of your care requires you to objectively document functional improvement – and this requires active care. In this session, we will walk you and your practice team through the step-by-step procedures for documentation, home exercise programs, in-office therapeutic exercises and kinetic activities as well as neuromuscular re-education including stability ball proprioceptive training. An extraordinary patient experience results from well-defined procedures, smooth-running systems, and high-quality care and service. In this presentation we will review the procedures that can help you and your practice team reach an extraordinary level of excellence. You’ll learn all you need to know to quick start the process of adding active care to your practice.

Title: Addressing Concerns About Chiropractic Safety
CEs: 2 Hours

This two-hour presentation will help you to answer the concerns your patients, professional colleagues and others may express about the risks of chiropractic neck adjustments.  We will review the mechanism of vertebral artery dissection and stroke, and outline the major risk factors and warning signs that you must be able to recognize in your office.  We’ll discuss why these strokes seem to be related to—but not necessarily caused by—chiropractic neck treatments.  You’ll learn the specific steps to take if a patient seems to have a complication from a neck adjustment, and you will also get detailed tips on how to discuss these perceived risks with concerned patients in a sensitive and sensible way.

Dr. Lauretti spent over 15 years in private practice in Maryland before joining the Chiropractic Clinical Science faculty at New York Chiropractic College in 2005. He has lectured extensively and written numerous journal articles and textbook chapters about the safety of chiropractic neck adjustments.
