Radiology for the Non-Radiologists Part 2 - Dr. Beverly Harger

This 6-hour course will focus on the clinician’s role in the utilization of imaging modalities with focus on the musculoskeletal system. Emphasis will be on knowing clinical indicators and imaging guidelines, ordering a radiographic study consistent with clinical suspicion, choosing the most appropriate imaging modality, improving interpretation skills, and developing an effective teamwork in the diagnostic process. The clinician will develop an approach to interpreting skeletal radiographs to maintain his/her radiologic skills. This course is expected to result in improved competence in making appropriate diagnosis with the overall goal of improving patient outcomes.

Dr. Beverly Harger creates an interactive learning environment that stimulates interest in the role of imaging in patient care. Her programs motivate clinicians to remain up to date on current concepts in clinical imaging. Her imaging presentations are interesting and helpful in providing doctors with practical radiographic and clinical information for their daily practice.

Dr. Harger is a chiropractic radiologist with more than 28 years of clinical experience. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Western States (UWS) in 1987. In 1992, she completed her radiology residency at UWS and attained her diplomate status from the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology. She is a professor and director of the MS in diagnostic imaging. as well as the clinical radiologist for UWS.

Her presentations address the importance of knowing imaging algorithms and understanding when imaging has a role in establishing diagnosis. Utilizing radiology case studies, clinicians will learn to differentiate many common conditions and not-so-common conditions, along with patient history and physical examination.

Dr. Harger holds memberships in the ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging and the American Chiropractic College of Radiology. She was named the UWS Outstanding Faculty in 2013.
